Utilizando VM com sistemas operacionais 64 bits (x64)

Ao baixar o Exchange 2010 Beta notei que só havia a versão x64 (64 bits). Portanto, precisava do Windows 2008 64 tambem.

O problema é que o Virtual Server 2005 SP1 e o Virtual PC 2007 não permitem um guest (máquina virtual) x64.

Solução: Um amigo me indicou um produto da Sun, que foi comprado recentemente, chamado VirtualBox. O legal do VirtualBox é que alem de gratuito, como é o VS2005 e o VPC 2007, ele automaticamente detecta que sua máquina possui Hypervisor e habilita na lista sistemas operacionais x64.

Mais interessante ainda é que é possível virtualizar máquinas virtuais com SO 64 bits mesmo que o sistema operacional host (maquina física) seja 32 bits (x86).

Para quem quiser olhar, tem muitas outras coisas, como emulação de controladora SATA (VS2005 só faz IDE e SCSI) e leitura direta de portas seriais e USBs.
